
Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors

Five Scarlet Knights were named to the Scholar-Athlete list as program earns recognition for ninth-straight year
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the ninth consecutive year, Rutgers tennis was lauded for its academic performance as the squad was named an All-Academic Team by the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) for the 2021-22 academic year. It is the 14th time in the previous 17 seasons that RU has earned the distinction.
Additionally, five Scarlet Knights – Chloe Brown, Tess Fisher, Sydney Kaplan, Alisa Prinyarux and Kristiana Zahare – were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Zahare was named to the list for the third-straight year, while Brown, Fisher, Kaplan and Prinyarux were selected for the second season in a row.
The group were also named to the Academic All-Big Ten team with Fisher and Zahare earning their third selection, while Kaplan became a two-time honoree. Fisher, Kaplan and Zahare were two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, awarded to student-athletes who earn Academic All-Big Ten recognition and a minimum GPA of 3.70 in the previous academic year. Prinyarux was selected to the Distinguished Scholar list for the first time in 2022.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must meet the following requirements –
have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
ITA All-Academic teams are programs that have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
