
Women’s Basketball Retains Support Staff Members

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers head women's basketball coach Coquese Washington has announced the retainment of several support staff members heading into the 2022-23 season. Heidi Rone (Administrative Assistant), Glenn Cain (Strength and Conditioning Coach), Jessica Kinder (Athletic Trainer), and Katie Salomone (Director of Sports Nutrition) will continue their duties supporting the Scarlet Knights' women's basketball program.
"Heide, Glenn, Jess, and Katie are all indispensable members of our staff," Washington said. "Their collective talent, experience, and dedication are invaluable as we embark on this new chapter for Rutgers women's basketball."
Rone, who has been with the program since 2012, will serve the women's basketball team in an administrative role. She works as the office manager, handling such duties as maintaining recruiting databases and expediting purchase orders and expense requests. In addition, she handles all correspondence for the office. Rone resides in Kendall Park, New Jersey and is the proud parent of triplets, who all graduated from Rutgers University - Courtney at Rutgers Newark for Mass Media Journalism/minor Video Production & Psychology, Jared at Rutgers New Brunswick for Political Science/ minors Arabic & Global International Studies and Kaitlyn at Rutgers Camden Nursing Honors College/ minor Psychology.
Cain begins his sixth season at Rutgers as an Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning. In his position, he works alongside the Scarlet Knight women's basketball student-athletes in designing programs to develop strength, speed, agility, conditioning, and nutrition to maximize on-court performance. Cain received his Master of Education: Exercise Science and Sport Studies with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. He previously received his undergraduate degree in Health Studies from Gettysburg College. He is CSCS certified through NSCA.
Kinder begins her second season with the team as the athletic trainer. She graduated with a Master of Science in advanced athletic training from North Dakota State in 2018 and served for three seasons as the athletic trainer for Bradley University's women's basketball team prior to arriving at Rutgers. At Bradley, Kinder supervised student workers, and implemented ankle injury prevention and sleep health programs for her student-athletes. Kinder is a NATA Certified Athletic Trainer, a Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner, a Certified Graston M1, and a Red Cross Professional Rescuer in CPR and AED. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in athletic training from Illinois State University in 2016.
Salomone, MS, RD serves as Director of Sports Nutrition for Rutgers. Her responsibilities include overseeing team nutrition needs, supervising volunteers and interns, and managing the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center fueling station. Salomone completed a Master of Science in Nutrition at Auburn University in 2018, as well as a dietetic internship. A 2016 graduate of Rutgers University, Salomone earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics with a minor in Biology. The Levittown, New York, native is a member of the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
