Track and Field Picks Up Six Wins at Battle In Beantown

BOSTON – Rutgers track and field collected six event wins, including several finishes that ranked on the school's top-10 all-time performance list at the Battle In Beantown on the campus of Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 21.
"We've entered the core part of our season so the expectations of the coaches and student-athletes have gone up," said Bobby Farrell, director of track and field and cross country. "We've got big goals this year so these are weeks we're going after in preparation for Big Ten and NCAAs. Next week will be an exciting one as we split between Clemson and BU."
Highlighting the performances on the track was Nadale Buntin and his win in the 200-meter, running 20.90, a time that ranks second all-time at Rutgers. Buntin also ran on the winning 4x400-meter relay team, joining Greg McQueen, Joshua Babe and Jameson Woodell. The group clocked a time of 3:12.18. On the women's side, Dennisha Page won the 200-meter with a time of 23.88, third-fastest at Rutgers.
In the field events, Sincere Robinson finished first in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.10m (6' 10.75"). Jasmine Van Note won the Jarred Rome Shot Put with a distance of 16.10m (52' 10"), while Konstantinos Bouzakis placed first in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.59m (47' 10.5").
The Scarlet Knights claimed three runner-up finishes, including second and third-place finishes in a pair of events. Charlee Crawford placed second in the 600-meter with a time of 1:33.01. Celine Brown finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.77m (18' 11.25"), followed by Kristina Tossas in third with a jump of 5.75m (18' 10.5"). In the triple jump, Faith Bethea placed second with a distance of 12.50m (41' 0.25") and Claudine Smith finished third with a jump of 12.12m (39' 9.25").
Al-Tariq Dunson ran 7.95 to place third in the 60-meter hurdles, while Kyle Lipscomb took third in the weight throw with a distance of 19.32m (63' 4"), which ranks third all-time at RU. The 4x400-meter relay team of Dennisha Page, Charlee Crawford, Celine Brown and Kameron Scille gave the Scarlet Knights another third-place finish with the group posting a time of 3:50.91.
Rutgers will split its squad next weekend with competitors traveling to the Bob Pollock Invitational on the campus of Clemson, while others will return to Boston for the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.
