BOSTON and CLEMSON, S.C. – Rutgers track and field split its squad across two meets with the distance group traveling to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, while sprints and jumps competed at the Bob Pollock Invitational on the campus of Clemson. The teams competed across two days on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28. Â
Â
"We split up this weekend to make sure that the event groups got the best possible competition," said Bobby Farrell, director of track and field and cross country. "The team stepped up well with some of the best performances in the NCAA and Big Ten. We still have plenty of work ahead of us but we are progressing as we hoped at this time of year."

Freshman
Celine-Jada Brown picked up her second career win as she posted the top distance in the long jump. Brown jumped a personal-best 6.24m (20' 5.75"), which was also the third-best jump on the program's top-10 list. Her distance at the Bob Pollock Invitational is third in the Big Ten and 14th on the NCAA qualifying list.
Â
Chloe Timberg posted the other event win on the weekend as she matched her indoor school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.41m (14' 5.5"). She set the mark earlier this season at the UPenn Challenge on Jan. 14 at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. It was the fifth time in her career that she has set or matched her indoor school record.
Â
Alex Carlson added a school record performance on the weekend, topping her previous record in the mile which she set exactly a year ago, also at the Terrier Classic. The holder of three indoor individual school records and two relays, Carlson shaved five seconds off the school time as she ran 4:31.51 to place second overall and first among all collegiate runners. Her time is top in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA.
Â
The Scarlet Knights posted several performances on the Big Ten and NCAA qualifying lists. On the women's side,
Dennisha Page owns the top time in the conference in the 200-meter as she ran a time of 23.61 to finish sixth in the event.
Kassidy Johnson missed the school record time in the 800-meter by one second as she posted the sixth-fastest time in the Big Ten, running 2:07.13.
Kristina Tossas finished third in the long jump at the Bob Pollock with a distance of 5.98m (19' 7.5") which ranks 10th in the Big Ten.
Â
Sincere Robinson placed third in the long jump, recording a distance of 7.43m (24' 4.5"). In the 60-meter hurdles,
Al-Tariq Dunson finished fourth, running 7.89, which was second on the Rutgers all-time list. The time is all top-10 on the Big Ten list.
Nadale Buntin placed fifth in the 200-meter with a time of 21.03.
Â
Rutgers will host its second home meet of the indoor season, returning to the Armory for the Scarlet Knights Open on Feb. 3-4 in New York.
