
Tennis Continues Strong Play on Day Two of Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. — The Rutgers women's tennis team continued its strong play through the second day at the Princeton Invitational. The Scarlet Knights came away with seven singles victories, along with three doubles wins against a combination of competitions from St. John's and Drexel.
Doubles
Rutgers competed in four doubles courts, earning three wins. Each of the victories came against sets of student-athletes from Drexel.
The duo of Amira Badawi and Minchae Kim took on the Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera in their doubles competition. It was a battle, but the Scarlet Knights claimed a 6-4 victory.
Jackeline Lopez and Naomi Karki claimed a doubles victory for the second day in a row, defeating Maddie Ricardo and Isabel Cabrerizo, 6-3.
To round out the doubles success on Saturday, Yana Gurevich and Daira Cardenas faced Elisa Rigazio and Rebecca Fiedler, cruising to a 6-1 win.
Singles
In singles play, seven different Scarlet Knights, including Chloe Brown, Mai Nguyen, Arina Valitova, Karki, Kim, Badawi, and Lopez, earned victories in singles play.
Karki was the lone individual to take home a win against a competitor from St. John's, defeating Camila Ordonez, 6-2, 6-4.
Valitova, Nguyen, Kim, and Brown all earned straight-sets victories in their matches against the Drexel Dragons.
Badawi battled against Drexel's Lombera, coming away with a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-2) win.
Lopez also earned a tough win over the Dragons, defeating Rigazio, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4).
