PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football RB
Kyle Monangai earned a spot on the
Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten Team released this week. The picks are based on PFF's grades and advanced statistics.
Monangai, who started all 12 games, ranks first in the Big Ten with 1,099 rushing yards, 115 more than any other player in the league following the regular season and ninth-most in a season in the school record book. He became the eighth player in program history and first since 2012 to reach 1,000 rushing yards in a season.
The Roseland, New Jersey, native had six games with at least 100 yards, five games with at least 20 carries and seven touchdowns. That included a high of 165 yards versus Temple and 159 versus No. 1 Ohio State, the second-most ever for a Scarlet Knight against a ranked opponent.
Monangai earned All-Big Ten Second Team recognition in the coaches and media vote, the highest honors for a Rutgers running back since joining the league.
Rutgers takes on Miami in the
Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 28. Kickoff on ESPN is set for 2:15 p.m. Tickets are available at
Bowl Central.
