Sofia Maksimova Sets ECAC 50 Free Record

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Rutgers' Sofia (Lobova) Maksimova set the ECAC record in the 50 free as she won the event on Friday at the ECAC Open Swimming & Diving Championships at LeJeune Hall on the campus of the US Naval Academy.
Maksimova reset the ECAC benchmark with the top time in prelims in 22.60 and went on to capture the title in the evening finals session in 22.57. She bested the previous time of 22.61 set by Rochelle Dong of Penn in 2016.
Also on Friday, Grace Hagemaster posted a season-best in the 50 free (24.40) during prelims.
