WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 9 Rutgers women's lacrosse (3-1) lost to RV Army (4-0), 10-5, on Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium. The Black Knights used a 5-0 opening quarter and held off a third-quarter scoring run by the Scarlet Knights to earn their first top-10 victory in program history.

Cassidy Spilis netted four goals in the loss, tying Katie Batiuk (2004-07) for third all-time in school history with 160 career goals. Junior

Marin Hartshorn tallied an assist.

Meghan Ball produced five draw controls, five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Army scored five consecutive goals to open the game before Spilis netted a free-position goal to make it 5-1 with 13:55 left in the second quarter. The Black Knights would add another score to take a 6-1 lead into the locker room. Cardello was impressive during the first half, closing the opening 30 minutes with 10 stops.
RU outscored Army 3-1 in the third quarter to make it just a three-goal game. The scoring included two goals from Spilis and one from Carolonza, with Spilis' third of the afternoon making it 7-4 with one quarter to play.
The Black Knights put the game away with back-to-back goals out of the third-quarter break. Hartshorn found Spilis with 11:16 left to cut Army's lead to four, but the home squad held Rutgers off the board in the final 10 minutes of play.
