NORMAN, Okla. – Rutgers gymnastics concluded the 2023 season on Thursday with Hannah Joyner, Emily Leese, and Stephanie Zannella representing the Scarlet Knights at the NCAA Regional Championships.
 
Joyner wraps up a historic Rutgers career with yet another record in her third NCAA appearance – this time a 39.375 in the all-around for the program's highest score at NCAA's. That mark included a third-place 9.900 on beam and a 9.850 on bars, which ties for the RU record at NCAA's. Joyner added a 9.750 on vault and a 9.875 on floor. The 9.900 beam score was tied for third out of 27 gymnasts at the regional site that included No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Kentucky, No. Illinois, and No. 25 Iowa.
 
Leese, making her second consecutive appearance at NCAA Regionals, posted a 9.850 on vault to place seventh of 27 in the regional session. The score is the best in program history at NCAA's, passing Luisa Leal's 9.825 from 2013. Earlier this season, Leese surpassed Leal for the all-time program record on vault with a 9.925. The junior made significant improvement from her 2022 regionals vault, which scored a 9.525.
 
Zannella closed out 2023 with her first appearance at NCAA regionals, scoring a 9.575 on beam. The junior team captain scored three 9.925's on beam over the final five meets of the season to clinch her spot at the national session.
 
The Scarlet Knights under fifth-year head coach Umme Salim-Beasley qualified three individuals for the NCAA Regional Championships for the third-straight season. Rutgers has had at least one gymnast at regionals in all five of Salim-Beasley's seasons at the helm.
