
Gymnastics Bows Out of NCAAs with Historic Performance

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rutgers gymnastics wrapped up a historic team season on Friday night, earning a 196.300 in the NCAA Lexington Regional semifinals to finish third out of four teams. The Scarlet Knights defeated hosts No. 16 Kentucky (196.175) and came up just shy of upsetting No. 18 Ohio State (196.550) to earn a spot in the regional finals.
RU posted the highest score in program history at NCAAs and advanced to the regional semifinals for the first time since the NCAA format changed to four regional sites. Depending on results at the regional final on Sunday, Gabrielle Dildy (all-around) and Emily Leese (vault) still have a shot to qualify for NCAA nationals later this month.
As a team, Rutgers tied a season high on vault with a 49.100 and had its second-highest score of the season on floor with a 49.375.
The Scarlet Knights began the meet on floor, earning a 49.375 with all counted scores being 9.85 or higher. Vivienne Larsen tied her career high with a 9.850, which Elliot Goldsmith and Gabrielle Dildy both earned 9.900s.
The strong start for RU continued on vault, where the team matched a season high with a 49.100. Lisa Chevaire led things off and tied a career high with a 9.825. Dildy posted a 9.875 and Emily Leese anchored with a stick, earning a 9.925.
On bars, the Scarlet Knights earned a 49.025, highlighted by a career high 9.850 from Matis Rains. Delaney Adrian also earned a 9.850, while Dildy added a 9.825.
Wrapping up the meet on beam, RU posted a 48.800. Adrian led off with a 9.825, with Keeley Smith (9.800) and Dildy (9.850) adding strong scores.
In the all-around, Dildy posted a 39.450, her third-best all-around mark of the season to finish second at the meet.
