Beck Joins R Fund Staff

Longtime corporate sports executive and alumnus added to athletic development team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – R Fund, the fundraising arm of Rutgers Athletics, announced the addition of David Beck to its staff. Beck, a decades long veteran of the sports and entertainment industry, returns to his alma mater to provide leadership and support in the planning, execution, and growth of premium seat contributions and the athletics' annual fund.
 
"David is a proven leader and thoughtful manager with a high aptitude for building meaningful relationships," said Shawn Tucker, vice president of development/deputy athletic director. "David will elevate our premium and annual experience for hundreds of thousands of R Fund members who passionately support our Scarlet Knights. We are thrilled to have David join our growing R Fund team.
 
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to return to my alma mater," said Beck. "I look forward to working with fellow alumni, students, parents, friends, and corporations in support of Rutgers Athletics. I am eager to join the dedicated staff at Rutgers and engage with the passionate fan base to continue to grow the program."
 
Beck brings over 28 years of sales and customer service experience in the sports and entertainment industry, including 20-plus years of leadership experience. He has worked for iconic brands such as Madison Square Garden, Live Nation and the New Jersey Devils. He most recently served as director of premium and corporate hospitality partnerships at Madison Square Garden. He held this role for the past two years focusing on premium sales for The World's Most Famous Arena.
 
Prior to MSG, Beck held the role of chief ticketing officer in the Arena Football League, where he was responsible for managing premium sales, ticket sales, customer service and ticket operations. He served at the league level, previously overseeing these operations for Trifecta Sports & Entertainment and its three sports properties simultaneously (Philadelphia Soul, Albany Empire, Atlantic City Blackjacks).
 
Beck spent 17 years with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League, where he held multiple positions, including vice president of ticket sales and customer service, as well as director of corporate business development/premium sales. As vice president, Beck played a vital role in ticket sales, premium sales, customer service, customer retention and ticket operations. He was also instrumental in the launch and opening of the Prudential Center, which has become one of the nation's premier sports and entertainment venues.
 
Beck also served as director of sales with Live Nation for four years, where he focused on premium sales and customer service/retention. Beck graduated from Rutgers University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in sports management and history.
