Antonio Barbosa and Amber Sporer Join R Fund Staff

Barbosa, Sporer Join Athletic Development Staff

Pair will help bolster premium and annual fund team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Antonio Barbosa and Amber Sporer will join the R Fund team, it was announced today. The pair will report to David Beck, who recently joined Rutgers Athletics after an expansive career in sports and entertainment premium service.
 
"We are continuing our efforts of building a strong engagement and fundraising team for Rutgers Athletics," said Shawn Tucker, vice president of development/deputy athletic director. "We are enthused to have two high performing and quality individuals join our R Fund team. Great days are ahead for our programs and Rutgers Nation."
 
Barbosa will serve as the Associate Director of Premium and Annual Fund where he will be tasked with managing all needs related premium seating and hospitality, while also focusing on annual giving. 
 
Prior to his time at Rutgers, Barbosa worked at Army West Point as an Assistant Director of the Army A Club. His responsibilities included assisting with the management of the annual fund, managing donor operations and benefit fulfillment, as well as overseeing the premium hospitality areas across three sports. 
 
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Barbosa completed his undergraduate degree in history with a minor in English from Texas State University in 2020. While at TSU, Barbosa interned with the development office. During his time, Barbosa helped facilitate game day operations, donor operations and assisted with the annual fund. He became a full-time staff member with the Bobcat Club following graduation as an Assistant Director of Development, where he worked on the Annual fund, as well as managed the Gift-In-Kind, and Student Bobcat Club programs. 
 
Sporer will serve as the Assistant Director of Premium and Annual Fund, focusing on premium seating areas for ticketed sports and annual giving efforts. Prior to joining the R Fund, Sporer served as a Team Administrator with the Rutgers University Foundation. During her tenure, she supported the Finance, Prospect Development, Camden Advancement, and Regional Development teams. Sporer also spent time as a Merchandise Coordinator at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida before returning to Rutgers.
 
Sporer earned her master's in global sports business from Rutgers in 2020. During her time as a graduate student "On the Banks," she served as an intern with the Athletic Communications department. Sporer handled duties in press box during competitions, supporting the staff and media in attendance. She also served as the secondary communications contact for the tennis program.
 
The South River, New Jersey native graduated in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and sports management from Centenary University.
