STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. and BOSTON – Rutgers track and field returned to action this weekend for a pair of meets, resulting in several top performances. Noah Kreisman and
Chloe Timberg led a men's and women's sweep of the pole vault as the Scarlet Knights earned five event wins on Sunday.
Kreisman earned the top spot in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.95m (16' 2.75"). He was followed by
Kevin O'Sullivan, who placed second with a height of 4.85m (15' 11"). The Scarlet Knights also earned two of the top three spots on the women's side in the event as Timberg matched her school record with a winning height of 4.47m (14' 8"), while
Suzy Lacombe finished third with a height of 3.85m (12' 7.5").
Alicia Campbell won the shot put with a throw of 14.86m (48' 9") and placed second in the weight with a distance of 18.76m (61' 6"). Rutgers picked up a pair of wins on the track with
Bryce Tucker finishing first in the 400-meter with a time of 47.88 and
Sydney Hawkins winning the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51. Hawkins also finished third in the 200-meter with a time of 24.79.
Rutgers collected several top-three performances on the afternoon, including
Azariah Grantham who finished second in the 60-meter with a time of 7.59.
Cynthia Boakye took second in the 400-meter, running 56.45, while
Alex Carlson was second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:05.26.
Claudine Smith took second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.63m (41' 5.25"), while
Faith Bethea finished third in the long jump with a leap of 5.73m (18' 9.75").
Christopher Hill placed second in the 800-meter with a time of 1:53.90 and
Sincere Robinson finished second in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.16m (7' 1").
Donavan Anderson took third in the long jump with a distance of 7.25m (23' 9.5").
The Scarlet Knights competed at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York on Saturday as part of an invitational hosted by Penn. Rutgers turned in a number of top-three finishes, including in the women's shot put and 60-meter dash.
Tey'ana Ames placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.27m (43' 6.5"), while
Lucia Garcia-Beltran finished third in the 60-meter with a time of 7.79.
Rutgers will return to the TRACK at new balance and the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Saturday, Jan. 20 for the Collegiate Showdown, hosted by Boston University and the Villanova Invitational, respectively.
