PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Jackson Turley (174) earned Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week honors, announced Tuesday by the conference office. Turley went 2-0 in No. 13 Rutgers wrestling's wins over No. 21 Indiana and Purdue this past weekend, which included a 15-0 tech fall over then-No. 9 Donnell Washington at Jersey Mike's Arena.
This is the first weekly conference award for Turley and third Big Ten weekly accolade for the Scarlet Knights, joining No. 7
Yaraslau Slavikouski (197) and No. 8
John Poznanski (197). The three weekly laurels are the most for RU in a single season since joining the Big Ten in 2014-15. Jackson shares this week's honor with Maryland's Michael North.
Turley opened last weekend with a 15-0 tech fall over Indiana's Washington, who entered the dual undefeated with a 10-0 record. Turley collected eight near fall points on the Hoosier en route to the win, one of five bonus-point victories for the Scarlet Knights in their 30-11 win. Turley then followed with a pin in the first 25 seconds against Purdue's Brody Bauman on Sunday to help RU to a 26-13 dual victory on the road. Thanks to his 2-0 weekend, Turley is now ranked as high as No. 9 in the country.
Rutgers continues its three-match road trip with duals at Michigan State on Friday in East Lansing and at No. 12 Michigan on Sunday in Ann Arbor.
