
Women's Basketball Signs PreciousGem Wheeler

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington announced the signing of incoming freshman PreciousGem Wheeler on Wednesday afternoon.
"Precious is a wonderful addition to our program'" Washington said. "She is a high energy person and who will bring toughness and athleticism to our forward play. The fact that she is homegrown talent means so much. We love that she is passionate about building her hometown team into one of the nation's elite. Coaching Precious is going to be truly enjoyable."
The 6-foot-3 center currently attends Franklin High School, where she will play her upcoming senior season. Wheeler who is originally from Plainfield, New Jersey moved to Franklin, New Jersey where she resides with her family.
In her first two seasons with the Warriors, she averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. She broke out during her sophomore season in 2022-23, recording 9.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. She also helped to lead Franklin to the Somerset County Tournament semifinals.
Wheeler also plays her AAU basketball for the New Jersey Demons.
