EAST LANSING, Mich. – Rutgers football (7-5, 4-5) defeated Michigan State (5-7, 3-6), 41-14, on Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

The victory was the Scarlet Knights' second consecutive against the Spartans in the series and fourth conference win this year – the most in a season since joining the league.

RB Kyle Monangai rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, moving past Terrell Willis for the second-most career rushing yards in program history with 3,221. RB Antwan Raymond added 71 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while QB Athan Kaliakmanis completed 13 passes for 157 and a touchdown to WR Ian Strong in the second half.

DB Bo Mascoe registered five tackles, a tackle-for-loss on a key fourth down stop and his first career interception late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. LB Dariel Djabome led the unit with seven tackles and added a sack.

PK Jai Patel made a career-high four field goals and now has 11 straight makes this season.

FIRST QUARTER

After Michigan State jumped out to a 7-0 lead with an opening-drive touchdown, Rutgers answered on its first drive to tie things up. Kaliakmanis found Strong for a 20-yard gain and Monangai carried four times for 30 yards, capping off the touchdown drive with a seven-yard scoring rush to make it 7-7.

The Scarlet Knights got the ball back just over a minute later when a high snap on a punt gave them the ball deep in MSU territory. Patel nailed a 25-yard field goal to give RU a 10-7 lead.

SECOND QUARTER

The Rutgers defense made a big play in the second quarter, stopping Michigan State on a fourth-and-one at the RU six-yard line. The offense took over and marched down the field for a season-long 94-yard touchdown drive, capped off by a 13-yard touchdown rush by Raymond. It was the team's longest scoring drive since a 94-yard touchdown drive against Maryland in 2022.

As the defense continued to stand up to the Spartans, Patel knocked in field goals from 42 and 30 yards out to close out the half and give the Scarlet Knights a 23-7 lead heading into the locker room.

THIRD QUARTER

Rutgers dominated possession in the third quarter, holding the ball for over 10 minutes of time and eating up more than half the clock on its opening drive. Kaliakmanis passed for 57 yards and capped off that drive with a nine-yard touchdown to Strong – who caught a touchdown for the fourth consecutive game. The play made it 31-7 RU.

FOURTH QUARTER

After a 12-play drive that ate up over seven minutes of clock, Patel drilled a 29-yard field goal for his career-high fourth make of the game to give the Scarlet Knights a 34-7 advantage.

After he Spartans found the end zone with 7:21 left, Raymond shouldered Rutgers' rush attack down the stretch. The freshman carried the ball on six of seven plays for 55 yards on the ensuing possession, punctuated with a five-yard touchdown for his second of the night.

With the Scarlet Knights up 41-14 late in the game, Mascoe put the finishing touches on the victory when he jumped a route and secured his first career interception with 1:14 remaining, allowing the Scarlet Knights to take a knee and leave East Lansing with the win.

• Rutgers won its seventh game, the most in a regular season since also going 7-5 in 2014.
• Rutgers has secured a winning season in back-to-back years for the first time since 2011-12.
• Rutgers won its fourth Big Ten game, its most in a season since joining the league.
• Rutgers won three games and posted a winning record (3-1) in November for the first time since 2011.
• Rutgers won its regular season finale for the first time since 2014.
• Rutgers defeated Michigan State for the second consecutive time, fourth time at Spartan Stadium and sixth time overall. The 41 points scored were the most by the Scarlet Knights in 16 meetings against the Spartans and the 27-point win was the largest margin of victory for RU in the series.
• Rutgers scored at least 30 points in three consecutive Big Ten games for the first time since joining the conference.
• Rutgers improved to 17-2 since 2020 when not committing a turnover in a game.
• Rutgers rushed for 208 yards, its 10^th game since 2023 with at least 200 rushing yards.
• Rutgers has 19 quarters since 2023 possessing the ball for at least 10 minutes – seven such fourth quarters. That included two such quarters in each of the past three games.
• Rutgers allowed fewer than 20 points in three of the past four games.
• QB Athan Kaliakmanis recorded his 17^th touchdown pass of the season to tie Ryan Hart (2004) for eighth-most in a season in program history.
• RB Kyle Monangai rushed for 129 yards on a career-high 31 carries with a touchdown. He posted at least 120 rushing yards in each of the last three seasons versus Michigan State. It was his 14^th career 100-yard game overall.
• Monangai is up to 3,221 career yards to pass Terrell Willis (3,114 yards from 1993-95) for second-most in program history. His season total of 1,279 yards passed his 2023 total for fourth-most in a season in the school record book.
• Monangai recorded his 13^th rushing touchdown of the season to tie Terrell Willis (1993) for seventh-most in a season in program history. It was his eighth game of the season with a rushing touchdown and ninth with a score.
• RB Antwan Raymond recorded his first career multiple-touchdown game and has now reached the end zone five times this season. It is the most rushing touchdowns by a Rutgers true freshman since Robert Martin had seven in 2014.
• WR Ian Strong recorded a receiving touchdown for the fourth consecutive game, the first Scarlet Knight to achieve the feat since Mark Harrison in 2010.
• WR Dymere Miller hauled in at least two receptions in all 12 games of the regular season. His 57 catches rank 10^th for a season in program history.
• DB Bo Mascoe recorded his first career interception.
• DL Jordan Walker recorded his fourth sack of the season.
• LB Dariel Djabome led the team with seven tackles to reach 102 for the season. The last Scarlet Knight to reach 100 for a season was Olakunle Fatukasi in 2020.
• PK Jai Patel went 4-for-4 on field goals to set a career high for makes in a game. It was the first time a Scarlet Knight converted four field goals in a game since San San Te at Syracuse in 2011.
• Patel is up to 28 career field goals to tie John Benestad (1990-93) for eighth-most in program history. He has made 11 consecutive attempts.
• DL Kyonte Hamilton appeared in his 50th career game to make it 46 players in program history to reach the mark. WR Christian Dremel (57), LB Jamier Wright-Collins (54), DB Robert Longerbeam (52), Monangai (52) and OL Hollin Pierce (51) previously hit the mark this season.
