Box Score NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. — The Rutgers women's tennis team (4-2, 0-0 B1G) swept in-state opponent Seton Hall (2-2), 7-0, on Saturday evening at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness in New Providence, N.J.
Eight different Scarlet Knights took the court in the dual. The duos of
Tara Chilton and
Yana Gurevich,
Naomi Karki and
Arina Valitova, and
Jackeline Lopez and
Chloe Brown, picked up wins in doubles play. In singles competitions, Chilton, Gurevich, Lopez, Valitova,
Mai Nguyen, and
Daira Cardenas all secured victories to secure the sweep.
Doubles
RU got the evening started by picking up three wins in doubles competitions to take a 1-0 lead in the dual.
Chilton and Gurevich cruised to their third-straight doubles win on court No. 1, downing the Pirates' first duo, 6-1.
Karki and Valitova then continued their hot start to the dual season, picking up a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point. The pair is now a team-best 4-0 in competitions together this spring.
To round out doubles play, Lopez and Brown recorded a 6-4 win over Seton Hall on court No. 3.
Singles
Rutgers took all six singles courts en route to its 7-0 win. Each of the victories came in straight sets.
Chilton added her fourth victory of the spring in the first lineup spot, downing the Pirates' Anastasia Sereda, 6-1, 6-1.
Lopez then snapped a two-match losing skid to bring RU's point total to three. The junior won her competition over Niamh Campbell on court No. 3, 6-2, 6-2.
Nguyen provided the clincher on the fourth court, defeating her opponent, 6-3, 6-1.
Gurevich, Cardenas, and Valitova rounded out the match with three additional victories to seal the sweep.

- Rutgers now holds a 19-2 advantage in the lifetime series with Seton Hall.
- The victory extends RU's win streak over SHU to 16.
- Rutgers has now beaten two of its three in-state opponents it has faced this slate. The Scarlet Knights narrowly fell to Princeton, 4-3, in their opener (Jan. 20), before downing NJIT, 6-1, two matches later (Jan. 27).
