PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 24 Rutgers women's lacrosse (4-0) remained undefeated with its 16-9 victory over Army (0-4) on Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights never trailed the visitors, as sophomore Lily Dixon tallied a career-high six points and graduate student Cassidy Spilis added five goals to pace RU's offense.

Rutgers used a 19-10 advantage on the draw to help dictate the pace, as senior Ashley Moynahan produced a game-high seven draw controls to go along with a career-high three goals. Moynahan was one of five Scarlet Knights to tally two or more goals, along with Dixon, Spilis, sophomore Ava Kane and freshman Payton Tini. Senior goalkeeper Sophia Cardello stopped 10 shots for her fourth win of the year.

The win avenged last season's road loss to the Black Knights, who advanced to the 2023 NCAA Tournament, in West Point and moved RU to 4-0 for the third time in its past four seasons under head coach Melissa Lehman. The Scarlet Knights have yet to trail at any point during the 2024 season, which spans four games and 240 minutes of play.

"We have standards as a team that we want to hit throughout the game, and we hit every single one of them today," Lehman said.. "I am super proud of this team. Our defense played lockdown defense on a great Army team and we possessed the ball for the majority of the game."

Moynahan scored first for Rutgers, going from left to right to finish with a ripper for a quick 1-0 lead. Army responded, but Spilis sparked a 4-0 scoring run with three goals before the first break. Spilis' secured her hat trick with 2:15 left to play in the first quarter off an unassisted goal, as the Scarlet Knights possessed a 5-2 lead through 15 minutes of play.

Offense was at a premium in the second quarter, but RU continued to dictate the pace of play. Dixon, Kane and sophomore Kimberly Greenblatt all scored before halftime. with Greenblatt's finish off a free position attempt making it an 8-4 lead heading into the locker room.

Rutgers outscored Army, 8-5, in the second half to put the game out of reach. Dixon and Moynahan scored two goals apiece in the final 30 minutes of play, while Dixon dished out two more assists to cap her career day.
