GENEVA, Ohio –
Chloe Timberg and
Celine-Jada Brown guided Rutgers track and field to a successful first day of competition at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships as the pair each secured a gold medal. The Scarlet Knights collected a total of seven podium finishes, including two silver and one bronze medal.
Rutgers resumes action on the
final day of the championships Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Streams of the competition are available via

Timberg successfully defended her indoor title in the pole vault, becoming a back-to-back Big Ten Indoor Champion and four-time champion overall. For the second year in a row, she set the Big Ten and school record in the event, clearing a height of 4.55m (14' 11").
Brown added the Scarlet Knights other gold medal on the afternoon as she won the women's long jump with a distance of 6.37m (20' 10.75"). She was joined on the podium by
Kristina Tossas, who took home the bronze in the event with a jump of 6.22m (20' 5").
Rutgers earned a pair of silver medals on the men's side with
Sincere Robinson and
Kevin O'Sullivan posting runner-up finishes in their events. Robinson, a two-time medalist in the men's long jump, picked up his second career silver with a second-place finish as he recorded a jump of 7.88m (25' 10.25").
Making his Big Ten Championship debut,
Kevin O'Sullivan finished second in the pole vault as he cleared a height of 5.23m (17' 1.75"). It was a family affair on the podium with his brother
Brian O'Sullivan earning a sixth-place finish in the pole vault.
Brian O'Sullivan recorded a height of 5.13m (16' 10") to secure a podium finish in his rookie season.
The Scarlet Knights also received points from the men's distance medley relay team as it finished seventh to close out day one.
Gavin Richards,
Gabriel Rodriguez,
Alec Snell and
Brian Pedretti combined to run 9:48.95 in the final event of Friday Big Ten Championship action.
