Timberg Named Field Athlete of the Championships

Celine-Jada Brown, Brian Pedretti earn Sportsmanship Awards
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers pole vaulter Chloe Timberg added another achievement to her growing list of accolades as she was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships, as selected by the conference head coaches.
Timberg successfully defended her title in the pole vault at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships, becoming a back-to-back champion last week. For the second-straight year, she set both the meet and school record in the event, clearing 4.55m (14' 11").
In addition, Timberg earned First Team All-Big Ten following the championships. She joins previous awards winners Izaiah Brown and Reanda Richards. Brown was the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships and Freshman of the Year in 2016, while Richards claimed Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in 2019.
Timberg currently ranks second in the nation heading into the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, March 8. She is making her second appearance at the national meet after qualifying last year.
Celine-Jada Brown and Brian Pedretti were the recipients of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Awards following the conclusion of the 2024 indoor championships.
Brown captured gold in the women's long jump, leading the competition with a PR distance of 6.37m (20' 10.75"). She earned First Team All-Big Ten honors for her performance. Pedretti secured a podium spot, joining the men's distance medley relay team of Gavin Richards, Gabriel Rodriguez and Alec Snell to finish seventh in the event. The group a time of 9:48.95, which ranked third-best on the program's all-time list. Pedretti also ran a person best and top-10 time in the mile, clocking 4:09.06.
