ORLANDO – Rutgers track and field opened its outdoor season at the Black and Gold Invitational on the campus of UCF on March 15-16. The throws group represented the Scarlet Knights in the 2024 opener.

Rutgers earned a pair of wins in the men's javelin and women's shot put.
Steve Coponi won the javelin with a throw of 70.02m (229' 8"), while
Alicia Campbell finished first in the shot put with a distance of 15.40m (50' 6.25"). Campbell also placed fourth in the hammer, recording a throw of 57.11m (187' 4").

RU received other standout performances from
Olivia Norris, who finished third in the javelin with a throw of 46.60m (152' 10"), followed by
Samantha Gravatt in sixth with a mark of 45.31m (148' 8"). On the men's side,
Andrew Krall finished fifth in the hammer with a throw of 58.52m (192' 0").

The Scarlet Knights will return to Orlando, Florida and the UCF campus for the Knights Invite on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.
