No. 19 Men’s Lacrosse Loses to Ohio State

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 19 Rutgers men's lacrosse (6-4, 0-2 Big Ten) fell at home on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 14-8 decision to Ohio State (6-5, 1-1 Big Ten) in front of 2,524 fans at SHI Stadium.

Rutgers was led by Shane Knobloch, who had two goals and two assists. Freshman Colin Kurdyla also had two goals. Ross Scott, Jack Aimone, Logan Peters and Cole Brams all had one goal apiece. OSU had a 44-34 advantage in shots, 41-24 in ground balls, won 14-of-26 faceoffs and was 22-of-22 on clears. The Buckeyes never trailed in the game.

OSU scored first, and RU answered quickly. The Scarlet Knights then went on a 15-minute scoring drought as OSU extended the lead to 3-1. A goal from Jack Aimone ended that drought, but then OSU took a 5-3 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, both offenses came to life, with 10 combined goals in the quarter after just 10 total goals in the opening half. OSU brought their lead to 9-4 after the first five minutes of the frame.

Rutgers answered back with three of the next four goals, cutting the deficit to 10-7 with 17 minutes to play. However, OSU closed out the game with a 4-1 run to earn the 14-8 win.

Rutgers returns to the road for its next two games, against a pair of ranked Big Ten teams. The Scarlet Knights play at 7 p.m. Sunday at No. 15 Michigan on BTN, then the following Saturday at No. 12 Maryland.
