No. 13 Rowing Excels at Doc Hosea Invitational
Mar 30 | Women's Rowing
CHERRY HILL, N.J. – No. 13 Rutgers rowing completed competition at the Doc Hosea Invitational on Saturday morning on the Cooper River.
The 2nd Varsity 4 led the way by claiming gold with a win in their grand final by 3.6 seconds over No. 10 Penn. It was the second consecutive weekend to start the season with a Rutgers 2V4 boat winning a race.
"I continue to be very proud of our entire team as we raced hard and with good consistency throughout the day," said head coach Justin Price. "I was especially impressed with our Varsity 8 and all three of our entries in the 2nd Varsity 4 event. To see all three of our entries in the 2V4 Grand Final was fun to watch and it was great to see us get our bow ahead to win the event. We are looking forward to getting back to work on Monday morning as we continue to progress towards the Big Ten Championships in May."
Out of the five feature races at the regatta, Rutgers sent seven of its eight boats to the grand finals on Saturday. The Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8, and Varsity 4 all placed second in their final races behind No. 10 Penn in tight races, with respective margins of 3.3, 4.7, and 3.1 seconds behind Penn.
The two 3rd Varsity 4 boats finished fourth and fifth in the grand final won by Rutgers' 2V4 boat. In true teammate fashion, the A boat finished just two-tenths of a second in front of the B boat.
The Scarlet Knights take a weekend off before taking on the Ivy League Invitational on Fri. and Sat., April 12-13 in Princeton on Lake Carnegie.
