PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball forward Destiny Adams has been named to the All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Third Team following her breakout season.
The award comes after Adams was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten (Coaches) and an Honorable Mention (media).
Adams has been a force on both ends of the floor for RU. She paced active players on the team with 15.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
The Manchester, New Jersey product led the team in scoring 13 times throughout the season and reached double-figure scoring in 27 outings including the last 17 contests of the campaign. In addition, the junior netted 20+ points in seven games.
Adams made a big statement in the conference tournament as she set the single-game Big Ten Tournament rebounding record with 24 boards against Minnesota (March 6) in the opening round. She also added a game-best 31 points, making her the first Scarlet Knight to tally 20+ points and 20+ rebounds since 2021.
Adams's 31 points versus the Gophers marked a new Rutgers Big Ten Tournament high, originally set in 2020. Her 12 field goals and 24 floor attempts are also new highs, previously met in 2016.
Adams recorded eight double-doubles during her first stint On The Banks to pace the team:
- 13 points, 17 rebounds vs. Monmouth (Nov. 6)
- 17 points, 12 rebounds vs. Wagner (Nov. 9)
- 17 points, 10 rebounds vs. La Salle (Dec. 5)
- 23 points, 13 rebounds vs. Purdue (Jan. 2)*
- 28 points, 10 rebounds vs. Michigan State (Jan. 30)*
- 21 points, 10 rebounds vs. Minnesota (Feb. 13)*
- 18 points, 10 rebounds vs. Wisconsin (Feb. 17)*
- 31 points, 24 rebounds vs. Minnesota (March 6)^

The 6-foot-3 forward was equally efficient on defense, leading the team off the glass with 254 to rank eighth in the Big Ten. Adams also ranked second in the league with 98 offensive rebounds. She led the team in rebounding on 16 occasions and reached 10+ boards eight times.
Adams also led the Scarlet Knights with 51 steals and ranked second with 24 blocks.
