GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Senior
Avery Balser of Rutgers gymnastics scored a 9.850 on bars at the NCAA Regional Championships at the University of Florida's Exactech Arena on Friday evening to conclude the 2024 season for the Scarlet Knights.
Balser, competing in her first NCAA postseason event, placed in a tie for 21st out of the 54 gymnasts in the event at the regional. The 9.850 is tied for Rutgers' best score on bars at the NCAA Regional Championships, matching
Hannah Joyner from 2023 and Luisa Leal in 2013.Â
The postseason routine put a bow on a consistently excellent 2024 campaign that saw the senior from Carroll, Ohio hit the 9.850 mark nine times, including the regional championships in Florida. She finishes the season with 15 hit routines without a fall.
Balser's representation at NCAA regionals marked the 14th consecutive year the RU team or individuals qualified for the event, including all six seasons of head coach
Umme Salim-Beasley's tenure.
