Track And Field Set For Big Ten Outdoor Championships

Timberg looks to defend 2023 outdoor title, Scarlet Knights poised for high-scoring weekend

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships beginning on Friday, May 10 through Sunday, May 12. The Scarlet Knights enter competition with several competitors that boast top-5 ranked performances in their events, including pole vaulter Chloe Timberg who will look to defend her Big Ten title from a year ago.
 
Competition at the U-M Track and Field Stadium begins at Noon on Friday with live coverage of the three-day meet, including separate streams for the events on the track and in the field available via B1G+. Follow Big Ten Championship Central for links to live streams, schedules and results.

On the women's side, Timberg highlights the competition for the Scarlet Knights as the four-time Big Ten Champion enters Friday with the No. 1 ranked height in the nation. Celine-Jada Brown holds the sixth-best mark in the Big Ten in the long jump, while Alianna Eucker, the school record holder in the javelin, ranks seventh heading into the championships. On the track, Alex Carlson will lead the squad on the track as she ranks fifth in the 1,500-meter and seventh in the 5,000-meter. Sydney Hawkins has the seventh-fastest time in the 100-meter.
 
On the men's side, a trio of Scarlet Knights hold top-3 marks in their respective events. Konstantinos Bouzakis has the top distance in the discus, while Sincere Robinson ranks second in the long jump. Rutgers will run four competitors in the 400-meter hurdles, including Jameson Woodell who ranks second in the event and Micah Wood who has the fifth-best time. They will be joined by Bryce Tucker (sixth) and Lathan Brown (seventh).
 
Additional point-scoring opportunities are available for the Scarlet Knights in the men's pole vault and javelin with each event featuring three competitors. Brian O'Sullivan has the fourth-ranked height in the Big Ten, followed by Noah Kriesman (sixth) and Kevin O'Sullivan (seventh).
 
The Scarlet Knights will field a group of relay teams that are poised to medal. The women's 4x400-meter group ranks fourth, while the men's 4x400 and men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams rank sixth among the Big Ten squads.
 
Under Bobby Farrell, who took over as director of track & field and cross country in 2019, Rutgers has secured 18 individual Big Ten Championship medals, including six outdoor titles.
