Rowing Finishes 14th at NCAA Championships

The Rutgers Varsity 4 places 10th in the nation
The Varsity 4 scored its best national finish since placing 9th in 2022. Racing in Sunday's petite final, the Scarlet Knights were fighting with Syracuse for the final two spots in the race at the halfway, 1,00-meter mark. RU picked up the intensity and finished strong, passing No. 11 Pennsylvania over the latter half of the race and finishing in fourth nearly five seconds ahead of them. Michigan, Brown, and California finished ahead of Rutgers for national places 7-9.
The 2nd Varsity 8 led their C final at the 500 and 1,000-meter checkpoints before Syracuse pulled just a seat or two ahead down the stretch for a 1.1-second margin of victory at the line. Rutgers matched its 14th-place finish from last spring, finishing second in their C final ahead of Duke, Indiana, Gonzaga, and Boston U.
The Varsity 8 wrapped its season in 15th place in the country with a third-place showing the C final on Sunday. The fast race had contact between all six boats, with Rutgers touching both Virginia and Indiana throughout the 2,000 meter race course. Virginia won 3.8 second aheads of RU, followed by Indiana, as Rutgers placed ahead of Duke, Gonzaga, and Northeastern.
Competing in their fifth consecutive NCAA Championships, the Scarlet Knights entered the national regatta with 14 of the 23 athletes from last year's national championships returning. The Varsity 4's 10th place finish bettered its seed of 13 at the NCAA Championships.
