PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's tennis head coach Hilary Ritchie announced the 2024 fall schedule Tuesday afternoon. The slate consists of nine tournaments, including five that require qualifying.
This fall campaign will feature the first-ever NCAA Individual Championships, adding to the spring Team National Championships. Baylor will host the inaugural tournament in Waco, Texas from Nov. 19-24.
"It is going to be an exciting season with it being the first time NCAA individuals are in fall," Ritchie said. "Along with our strong regional tournaments, our players are going to have the opportunities to earn their way into qualifying events. I am looking forward to getting the season started."
The Scarlet Knights will kick off the fall at the Yale Invitation from Sept. 20-22. This will be the third consecutive campaign the team will make the trip to New Haven, Connecticut for the event.
Players who qualify will head to Cary, North Carolina for ITA All-Americans from Sept. 21-29. Ten singles players and four doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
RU will then return home and take the short trip to New York for the Fordham Invite from Oct. 4-6.
Those who qualify will stay local, going to Philadelphia for ITA Regionals at UPenn (Oct. 10-15). The two singles finalists and doubles champion from each region will go onto compete in the National Tournament.
For the first time since 2018, Rutgers will head to Providence, Rhode Island to compete in the Brown Invite from Oct. 18-20.
Players who make the cut will take part in ITA Conference Masters (Nov. 7-10) in San Diego, California. Both draws for singles and doubles will be 32. Each NCAA AQ-eligible, Division I conference will designate one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to participate in the event. From this, four players and three doubles teams will go through to NCAA Championships.
The Scarlet Knights will make their way back to the east coach for the Big Green at Dartmouth from Nov. 8-10. This will be the team's fourth fall season in a row competing in the Big Green's tournament.
From there, those who meet the standard will advance to ITA Sectional Championships which will be held at various sites from Nov. 7-11. Only players and doubles teams who have yet to earn entry into the NCAA Championships and have made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships will be eligible for participation. The draw sizes will be 32 for singles and 64 for doubles. Six singles players and three doubles pairings from each section will go onto the National Championships.
