PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling finalized its non-conference competition schedule for 2024-25. The Scarlet Knights host Lock Haven (Friday, December 6) and Penn (Wednesday, February 19) to round out their home schedule, which also includes Big Ten Conference matchups with Illinois, Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin. Dates and times for RU's Big Ten home slate will be announced later on.

Rutgers opens its season Saturday, November 9 with neutral-site matchups against Duke and Franklin and Marshall as part of Journeymen wrestling's WrangleMania, held at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Scarlet Knights will also compete in Journeymen's Jersey Jostle against LIU and NC State on Sunday, November 17 at RWJBarnabas Health Arena in Toms River, New Jersey.
RU closes out its first month of action with a standalone dual at Virginia Tech on Friday, November 22 in Blacksburg. The Hokies finished seventh at last season's NCAA Wrestling Championships in Kansas City, Missouri and return 149-pound national champion Caleb Henson.
Rutgers hosts its first home dual on Friday, December 6 against Lock Haven before it treks down Route 1 to face Princeton on Sunday, December 8 at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Scarlet Knights then hit the road for the remainder of the year with a matchup at Clarion on Friday, December 13 and duals with Kent State and Gardner Webb on Saturday, December 14 in Kent, Ohio. RU will send a full lineup to the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships from December 29-30 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Rutgers' final non-conference dual of the season will be with Penn on Wednesday, February 19 at Jersey Mike's Arena.
Rutgers finished No. 14 in the final NWCA Coaches Poll last season and produced multiple All-Americans for the eighth time in nine seasons under head coach
Scott Goodale.
Dylan Shawver (133) and
Yaraslau Slavikouski (HWT) finished seventh in their respective weight classes at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships – the 10th time in 11 years Rutgers has produced at least one All-American. Eight Scarlet Knights qualified for nationals, the most since all 10 starters qualified in 2016. RU also finished sixth at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, which included an individual title from Shawver, seven conference place winners and 87.5 team points - its best team result since 2016.
Rutgers finished 12-5 during the dual season and earned a final No. 14 ranking in the NWCA Coaches Poll - its 12th top 25 finish in the poll under Goodale. The Scarlet Knights once again finished in the top 10 in national home attendance as it averaged more than 4,000 per home dual in 2023-24. Twelve student-athletes earned Winter Academic All-Big Ten recognition, while three individuals – Slavikouski,
John Poznanski (197) and
Anthony White (165) - were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans.
