PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's basketball team (8-12, 0-9 B1G) couldn't get past No. 1/1 UCLA (19-0, 7-0 B1G), dropping an 84-66 decision at Jersey Mike's Arena on Thursday night.
Destiny Adams recorded her fifth straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds along with a career high three three-pointers.
Kiyomi McMiller (17) and JoJo Lacey (14) also scored double digits for the Scarlet Knights. McMiller tallied five rebounds and four assists, while Lacey recorded four steals in the contest.
How it Happened
- After the Bruins jumped out to an early 10-point lead, Kiyomi McMiller kicked the scoring off for RU with a pull up jumper.
- A JoJo Lacey free throw and Chyna Cornwell layup then answered another UCLA score to make it 12-5, Bruins.
- Destiny Adams canceled out two UCLA free throws with a layup of her own.
- The two teams then traded baskets to end the quarter with Mya Petticord sank a three-pointer and Adams adding another score, but UCLA stayed ahead, 18-12.
- McMiller netted the first points of the quarter with a jumper, but UCLA quickly came back with a shot from beyond the arc. McMiller then sank two free throws with 8:30 remaining.
- UCLA then rattled off a nine-point run before Adams drained a deep ball.
- Adams then sank another three-point shot at 4:44, but the Bruins caught fire and scored 12 straight.
- The Scarlet Knights wouldn't go quietly though, as they went on a 7-0 run of their own. Awa Sidibe, Lisa Thompson and Adams all contributed in the effort but UCLA still held the lead at 45-29 going into the locker room.
- Out of the break, UCLA got on the board first, but Cornwell wrote back right away with a layup in the paint.
- The Bruins then scored twice before Lacey drained a three ball and another score off a steal.
- After UCLA scored another three, McMiller and Adams both recorded buckets, forcing a Bruins' timeout at 6:30, as they held onto the 14-point advantage, 54-40.
- The Bruins stayed hot, scoring eight straight out of the break.
- Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter with Thompson, Cornwell and McMiller doing the damage.
- UCLA scored the first four points of the quarter, but buckets from McMiller and Lacey canceled them out forcing another Bruins timeout with 5:49 to play.
- McMiller then traded another basket with UCLA to keep the deficit at 20.
- Another layup and two free throws extended the Bruins lead, but the Scarlet Knights kept fighting. Lacey scored four straight points at the charity stripe and McMiller added two with a jumper.
- With just over two minutes to go, UCLA sank two more free throws, but RU retaliated with a 6-0 run. Petticord sank a shot beyond the arc along with McMiller and Lacey adding on.
- UCLA added four more points in the final minute to come out on top, 84-66.

Knights Notes
- With 15 points and 13 rebounds, Destiny Adams recorded her 11th double-double of the season, fifth in a row and 19th of her career.
- Adams also set a new best three shots from beyond the arc and tied her career high with three blocks, a mark she has hit four other times including once earlier this year.
- Netting 17 points on Thursday, Kiyomi McMiller collected her 15th game this season with double-digit points.
- McMiller also tallied four assists to lead the team in the stat for the 10th time this slate.
- Chyna Cornwell ended the night with seven rebounds including five off the offensive glass. She tops the squad with 86 total offensive rebounds.
- The Scarlet Knights shot 12-of-14 (86 percent) from the charity stripe, their best performance of the season.
- RU outscored the Bruins 20-8 in points off turnovers, thanks to 12 forced turnovers from the Scarlet Knights. RU only committed eight turnovers, tied for its lowest total of the campaign and sixth outing with 10 or less turns.
- Rutgers won the final quarter of play outscoring UCLA 18-16.
