PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 13 Rutgers men's soccer (8-3-2, 3-2-1 B1G) fell short Tuesday on the road at No. 8 Maryland (7-0-3, 3-0-2 B1G), 2-0.Â
The first half ended with no score as both sides defended well. Maryland owned the advantage in shots, 7-4, but both teams ended the first 45 minutes with two shots on goal. Â
The Scarlet Knights generated multiple opportunities to start the second half but couldn't break through. It was the Terrapins who struck first however, scoring a pair of goals in a five-minute span to take the 2-0 lead. Â
The Terps held onto the advantage to come away with the victory.Â

- Tuesday's decision marks just the second time this season Rutgers has not found the back of the net this campaign.
- RU is now 0-1-1 against ranked opponents this season.Â
- 21 of RU's 25 goals this season have come from newcomers. Devon Stopek and Nick Collins are the lone returners to net a goal so far, as well as a team goal. Â
- Ciaran Dalton made four saves in net on Tuesday night to move up to fifth on the all-time career saves list with 218 stops. Â
- Dalton is the only Scarlet Knights to play all 90 minutes of all 13 matches this campaign. Â
