PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers Foundation and Rutgers Athletics announce the appointment of Margaret (Maggie) Long as Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Athletics Development.
"This is a homecoming for Maggie," said President of the Rutgers Foundation, Kimberly A. Hopely. "She held key roles on the athletic development team prior to her role as Executive Director of Corporate Partnerships and Annual Giving at the Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation.
"Her drive and belief in the mission of Rutgers University are evident, and as we move into this next chapter for Rutgers Athletics, Maggie will be key to securing the philanthropic resources to support a winning culture, both competitively and in the classroom," according to Director of Athletics,
Keli Zinn.
"I'm deeply honored and genuinely thrilled to join Rutgers University and the Rutgers Athletic Department as the new Vice President & Chief Development Officer," said Long. "Returning to the Banks feels like coming home, and my family and I are so grateful to be part of a community that means so much to so many. I'm incredibly thankful to Director of Athletics
Keli Zinn and Foundation President Kimberly Hopely for their leadership and trust. The energy and vision surrounding Rutgers Athletics are inspiring, and I can't wait to get started and help build on the incredible momentum of our Scarlet Knights."
As Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Athletics Development, Long will focus on raising funding for the Athletic Excellence Fund, a bold new initiative that will provide direct support to Scarlet Knight student-athletes, which is now permissible because of the NCAA House settlement. Together with Rutgers' Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) efforts and athletic scholarships, Rutgers will be positioned to thrive in a transformed collegiate athletics landscape. Scholarships remain a vital and foundational way for donors to support student-athletes, continuing to position them for academic success and financial stability. Increased scholarship support contributes to the competitive edge for coaches to recruit and retain elite talent from around the globe.
A graduate of William and Mary University, Long obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in public relations, advertising, and applied communications from Monmouth University. Her career reflects a proven commitment to New Jersey, and her leadership will play a significant role in the success of Rutgers athletics.
