PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football takes the field under the Friday night lights for the second time in three games with a trip west to face Washington at Husky Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. local on FS1. The Scarlet Knights are in the midst of playing 4-of-5 and 5-of-7 on the road and are set for their third night game in 2025. RU is 13-6 coming off a bye week under head coach Greg Schiano, including victories last season over Virginia Tech and Minnesota.

Rutgers ranks second nationally with three blocked punts, sixth in fewest turnovers lost (2), seventh in time of possession (33:47), 12th in first downs gained (137), 16th in fewest penalty yards against per game (37.0), 18th in scoring offense (39.0), 19th in passing offense (293.6) and 23rd in third down conversion percentage (49.2).

SCOUTING RUTGERS
• Rutgers will play its sixth game in the Pacific Time Zone, previously playing at USC (2024), Washington (2016), Washington State in Seattle (2014), Fresno State (2013) and Cal (1999).
• Since 2020, RU is 20-2 when not committing a turnover in a game.
• Rutgers has scored 66 non-offensive touchdowns under head coach Greg Schiano, including 15 since 2020 and three so far this season.
• Rutgers has blocked 76 kicks (46 punts, 17 field goals, 13 extra points) under Schiano, including three blocked punts so far this season.
• Rutgers, "The Birthplace of College Football," has played 1,427 games in program history on record dating back to 1869, the most in the sport.

LAST TIME OUT
• In a back-and-forth game, Rutgers' late drive came up short in a 31-28 loss at Minnesota. The Scarlet Knights out-gained the Golden Gophers, 387-349, picked up 29 first downs and went 7-for-14 on third down.
• RB Antwan Raymond rushed for two touchdowns and a career-high 161 rushing yards, one yard shy of the Rutgers Big Ten record for rushing yards in a game held by Kyle Monangai (162 at Michigan State in 2022).
• QB Athan Kaliakmanis completed 21-of-34 passes for 249 yards and touchdown passes to WR KJ Duff and WR DT Sheffield.
• DL Bradley Weaver recorded his fourth career game with two sacks, a career high.
 
OFFENSE
•  Kirk Ciarrocca is in his third season back as Rutgers' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2025. Ciarrocca, who has over 30 years of coaching experience (21 as an offensive coordinator), previously served on head coach Greg Schiano's staff for three seasons, winning two bowl games from 2008-10. He has been selected as a semifinalist for the Broyles Award and coached 28 players who had their name called in the NFL Draft (six in the first round). Ciarrocca has coached the Big Ten's leading rusher two of the past three seasons.
• Rutgers has scored points on 28-of-50 drives to start the season, including four drives that ran out the clock to end a half.
• QB Athan Kaliakmanis ranks seventh in Rutgers history with 4,095 passing yards, ninth with 27 touchdown passes and 10th with 320 completions. He is third in the Big Ten with 1,399 passing yards, the most passing yards for a Scarlet Knight through five games of season since Mike Teel had 1,507 at the same point in 2007.
• RB Antwan Raymond has scored 14 touchdowns over the past seven games dating back to last season. He is second nationally with nine rushing touchdowns in 2025, while becoming the first Scarlet Knight since "JJ" Jennings (1973) to record multiple rushing touchdowns in four straight games.
• WR KJ Duff and WR Ian Strong recently joined WR DT Sheffield on the 2025 Biletnikoff Award watch list. The trio are all top-12 in the Big Ten in receiving yards this season. Rutgers is one of three teams with three representatives (Ohio State, Ole Miss) and has multiple selections for the first time since 2008 (Kenny Britt, Tiquan Underwood).
 
DEFENSE
Robb Smith is in his seventh season at Rutgers in 2025 and serves as co-defensive coordinator and play caller. A native of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, Smith previously worked on the Scarlet Knights' staff in various roles, including as defensive coordinator, from 2009-12 and from 2020-21. He is joined by co-defensive coordinator Zach Sparber, a native of Norwood, New Jersey, who comes from James Madison and has been to five bowl games.
• Rutgers held Minnesota to 1.9 yards per rush and 35 yards on 18 attempts.
• DL Bradley Weaver had two sacks last time out, while DL Eric O'Neill leads the team with 4.5 tackles-for-loss on the season.
• LB Dariel Djabome, a Third Team All-Big Ten performer in 2024, is coming off a 105-tackle season, second among returning Big Ten players. He added eight stops each of the past two games.
• DB Jett Elad leads the team with 33 tackles, adding an interception.
• DB Bo Mascoe leads the unit with three passes defended (two pass breakups, one interception).
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Rutgers has blocked 76 kicks (46 punts, 17 field goals, 13 extra points) under head coach Greg Schiano. That includes 16 games with multiple blocks, 18 touchdowns off blocks and two resulting in safeties. DB Jett Elad and DB Kaj Sanders each blocked punts versus Norfolk State to make it 13 for the Scarlet Knights since 2022, the most in the nation.
• PK Jai Patel has connected on 35-of-45 career field goals with a long of 51 yards. He has 10 career games with multiple makes, three with at least three makes and a career high of four makes.
• P Jakob Anderson booted a career-long 68-yard punt that stopped at the four versus Iowa.
• PK Jack Scullion has kicked a touchback on 20-of-35 attempts.

VERSUS WASHINGTON
• Rutgers will take on Washington for the fourth time overall, second time in Seattle and second time in as many years in in Big Ten play. This will be the third straight meeting on a Friday.
• In front of a sold-out crowd of 54,079 to start Big Ten play last season, Rutgers held off Washington, 21-18, at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights scored touchdowns on both of their trips to the red zone and held the Huskies, who were playing their first Big Ten road game, scoreless on three of its possessions inside the 20 and to 2-for-12 on third down. Kyle Monangai rushed for 132 yards on 25 attempts, adding a touchdown. RB Samuel Brown V ripped off a 37-yard score on the ground, while QB Athan Kaliakmanis found WR Ian Strong for a 15-yard touchdown pass. LB Dariel Djabome led the team with 12 tackles.
• Rutgers and Washington played a home-and-home non-conference series in 2016 (Seattle) and 2017 (Piscataway).
• Rutgers opened its 2017 season by hosting No. 8 Washington on a Friday night. The Scarlet Knights took the early lead, but the Huskies rallied for a 30-14 win in front of a crowd of 46,093 in Piscataway. Gus Edwards led the team in rushing (24 attempts, 79 yards).
• In 2016, No. 14 Washington picked up a 48-13 win in the first meeting between the programs in Seattle. Janarion Grant led the Scarlet Knights with 160 all-purpose yards, adding a rushing touchdown.
• The next meeting is scheduled for 2027 in Piscataway.

• No general public tickets remain for Rutgers football's Oct. 18 matchup against No. 3/2 Oregon at SHI Stadium, presented by RWJBarnabas Health. Part of Homecoming & Family Weekend on campus, the game time is confirmed for 6:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

• To kick off the festivities, The Rutgers Boardwalk, presented by Visit New Jersey, will be open for the first time for two straight days starting Friday, Oct. 17 from 6-10 p.m. Check out safe trick-or-treating to get into the Halloween spirit. Kids 12 and under will receive stadium-approved Rutgers Halloween bags and candy/treats, and the action resumes at 2 p.m. on game day. Take part in the costume contest, participate in Simon Sez and a chance to win big prizes at the pep rally.
• A football letterwinners pregame tailgate will take place at the Frank R. Burns Pavilion in Athlete's Glen.
• This will be the 91st Homecoming game in program history. The Scarlet Knights are 55-34-1 on Homecoming weekend, with the event held every season since 1933, except 1943 and 2020. Oregon will mark the 43rd different opponent for Rutgers on Homecoming in what will be the first all-time meeting between the programs.
