PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Rutgers men's golf program announced the addition of two rising European standouts to its 2025–26 signing class.
The Scarlet Knights have strengthened their future with the signings of Italian prospect Carlo Melgrati and English standout Jamie McGeoch, adding two high-upside talents to head coach Rob Shutte's incoming 2026 class. Both arrive with proven success on the Italian and English junior circuits and are expected to provide immediate impact.
Carlo Melgrati
Melgrati, of Italy and representing Franciacorta Golf Club, has been a two-year starter on the EYBL Golf Tournament circuit. He tied for seventh at the 2025 European Boys' Team Championship (Division 2) in Hungary with rounds of 71–71. Despite battling injuries over the past year, he brings a strong skill set and the potential to make an early impact on a young Rutgers roster.
"Carlo is an accomplished, highly ranked Italian player with an unbelievably great golf swing," Shutte said. "His technique is very, very good, and he shows a lot of promise for our depth and where we want to go as a program."
Jamie McGeoch
McGeoch, a native of England who plays out of The Berkshire Golf Club, holds a T-2 finish at the International Invitational at Crumpin-Fox. He also placed third at the SSGT Hollinwell in 2024 and fifth at the SSGT Dundonald the same year. A three-time Berkshire Junior Club champion (2022–24), McGeoch owns a 2025 European Golf Rankings average score of 73.89.
With his competitive nature and commitment to development, McGeoch is expected to be a strong fit for the team's long-term growth.
"Jamie is a very strong and competitive player with serious potential," Shutte said. "He hits the cover off the ball and can do it all. We're excited to see what he brings to our program."
