PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball (5-2) came out victorious over Siena (0-6) on Monday night at Jersey Mike's Arena. Â
Nene Ndiaye reset her career high once again with 26 points. Zachara Perkins tied her career best with 17, and Imani Lester added 10. Â
The trio also led the team on the boards with Lester bringing down nine rebounds to tie her career high, Ndiaye grabbing eight and Perkins seven. Â
The contest featured six ties, but the Scarlet Knights ultimately outscored the Saints 22-16 in the fourth quarter to come out with the win. Â
How it HappenedÂ
- Lester added two more shots from the line before Siena netted its first points of the game with just over seven minutes remaining. Â
- RU's offense didn't stop though, with another five consecutive points to go up 14-2, with a layup from Perkins and a three-point play from Nene Ndiaye.
- Lester hit another two shots at the line, but the Saints went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit, 16-9, and force a Scarlet Knights timeout with 5:26 to play.
- Out of the break, Lester broke through the pressure for a layup and Nene Ndiaye recorded two points at the charity stripe to extend the advantage back, 20-9, at the 4:31 mark.
- Perkins kept up the production with another five points on her own. Siena put an end to the 9-0 stretch with a free throw and a shot from deep to cut the gap, 25-14, with just under 1:30 left in the opening period. Â Â
- The score would stay at the end of the first 10 minutes. Â
- The Saints started the second quarter with five in a row to put the contest within six points, 25-19, at the 6:25 media timeout. Â
- Siena kept up the scoring with another layup after the stop to bring the gap down to four points, 25-21. Â
- Nene Ndiaye put an end to the run with a pair of free throws, but the opposition matched the points to keep the difference at 4:15. Â
- Antonia Bates and Nene Ndiaye added a bucket each, but the Saints hit back-to-back threes and a layup to tie the score, 31-all, with just over two minutes to go.Â
- Nene Ndiaye hit one more basket before going into the locker room to put RU back in front, 33-31. Â
- The opposition cashed in on a shot from beyond the arc to start the third quarter and take its first lead, 34-33. Â
- The Saints added one more field goal before the 7:35 media timeout to extend their lead, 36-33. Â
- Nene Ndiaye scored for Rutgers with a layup, but Siena hit another three. Perkins also added a layup before the Saints called timeout at 5:15, up 39-37. Â
- Nene Ndiaye came out of the stop with a long two, but Siena matched the bucket to keep the two-point differential at another 4:34 called timeout.Â
- Once again it was Nene Ndiaye to hit a contested layup out of the timeout to knot the score back up, 41-all. The Saint stayed aggressive though, taking back the 43-41 edge with 2:35 on the clock. Â
- The teams traded the lead once more before the end of the third but remained tied, 45-45. Â
- Faith Blackstone netted her first points as a Scarlet Knight in her first appearance to put RU ahead. Siena matched the score, but Nene Ndiaye and Blackstone combined for four points to regain the edge, 51-47. Â
- Blackstone continued her strong play, causing a turnover then hitting a three on the other end. The opposition added a shot from beyond the arc as well, but this time Nene Ndiaye answered with a three-pointer of her own. Â
- Siena added one more two-pointer before the 5:32 media timeout, but Rutgers remained in control, 57-52. Â
- The teams traded buckets, but Perkins came up with a big second chance three to put RU in front by six points, 62-56. Â
- The Scarlet Knights continued a 7-0 run to go up by 10, 66-56. The Saints strung together a 5-0 stretch of their own to put the contest back within five, but Perkins sealed the victory with a free throw to give Rutgers the 67-61 win.Â

Knights Notes  Â
- Nene Ndiaye scored a career best 26 points against Siena, her third contest of the season with 23+ points. She went 9-for-10 at the line. Â
- The junior forward has reached double-digits in seven straight contests and 20+ three times. She paces RU with 17.3 points per game. Â
- Ndiaye excelled on both ends of the floor, also pacing the squad with eight rebounds and four steals. Â
- Zachara Perkins has netted double digit points in all but one game this season, including 12+ points in the last three games. Â
- Imani Lester landed a career best four blocks. Â
- Kaylah Ivey dished six assists, her most since the season opener when she came away with eight dimes. Â
- Faith Blackstone made her debut for Rutgers, recording seven points, three rebounds and two steals. Â
- RU was perfect from the charity stripe in the first quarter, going 9-for-9. The team ended the game going 78.6 (22-of-28) percent from the line. Â
- The Scarlet Knights caused 20 turnovers, which they turned into 25 points. Â
- Rutgers beat Siena off the glass, 42-39. Â
- RU is 2-0 all-time versus Siena. Â
