Cohen, Doucette, Shadek Named Big Ten Players to Watch

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A trio of Rutgers baseball players were named Big Ten Players to Watch by the conference on Wednesday.

Junior outfielder Trevor Cohen, sophomore infielder Ty Doucette and redshirt freshman right-handed pitcher Justin Shadek were all recognized.

Cohen is coming off a season where he hit .324 with one home run and 30 RBIs, walking 24 times and stealing 10 bases. Cohen has started 106 games in the outfield for the Scarlet Knights dating back to his freshman season and is a career .311 hitter.

Doucette ranked fourth on RU last season with a .321 average and was second with nine home runs and 49 RBIs despite missing 10 games with injury.

Shadek is set to make his collegiate debut after spending the 2024 season rehabbing from injury.

The Scarlet Knights open the 2025 season this weekend at Kennesaw State, with the season opener set for 1 p.m. on Friday.
