Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Downs Le Moyne, 19-2

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (3-1) defeated Le Moyne (0-2), 19-2, on Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium. Never trailing against the Dolphins, the Scarlet Knights outshot the visitors, 40-6, scooped up 25 ground balls to Le Moyne's 9 and forced their opponent into 22 turnovers to earn the out-of-conference win in Piscataway.

RU's 17-goal margin of victory was its largest since February 8, 2019, when it defeated then-LIU Brooklyn, 20-3. Its two goals allowed were its fewest allowed in a win since March 23, 2005, when it let up one in an 18-1 victory against Bucknell.

"All week we just spoke about having a 'first to' mentality and owning every 50-50 ground ball," said head coach Melissa Lehman. "We were ready to compete. I was really proud of the way they practiced all week and how they played today."

RU featured 10 different goal scorers, which included hat tricks from senior Victoria Goldrick and rookie Delainey Sutley. Goldrick finished with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, while junior Lily Dixon contributed four points on three helpers and a goal.

Graduate student goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron posted her third win of the season, while junior Katie Buck muscled nine draw controls to help Rutgers to a 14-9 advantage in center circle.

The Scarlet Knights outscored the Dolphins, 9-0, in the opening 15 minutes of action. Goldrick netted a hat trick in the first quarter, with her third goal of the afternoon off a pass from Sutley making it 9-0 RU at the end of the period. Sutley added two goals during the opening frame, while Dixon dished out two assists.

The scoring continued in the second, as Goldrick found rookie Hilary Elsner two minutes into the quarter to give RU a double-digit lead. Rutgers outscored Le Moye, 5-0, before the midpoint, as redshirt freshman Samantha Swanovich's second of the day at the halftime buzzer made it a 14-0 game.

The Dolphins scored back-to-back goals to open the second half, but the Scarlet Knights kept the visitors off the board for the remaining 26 minutes of action. Sophomores Gianna Macrino and Alex Popham contributed scores down the stretch, while rookie Caroline Ling netted the first goal of her career.
