BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rutgers women's golf started the spring season strong with a fourth place finish at the Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton on Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights played three strong rounds and moved up a spot on the leaderboard in the final day, finishing ahead of No. 46 BYU.

Individually, Rutgers saw three golfers finish in the top 15, highlighted by a t-10th finish from Lorena Rossettin. Grace Lu finished in a tie for 13th, while Joline Truong finished in a tie for 15th. 

"We battled hard today in the final round," head coach Kari Williams said. "We wavered a little in the middle but this group focused on playing just one hole at a time and competing hard. Finishing 4th in this strong field was a great way for us to begin the spring."

Round 3  – Tuesday, February 4th
Weather: Sunny, Temps in high 70s, 5-10 mph winds

Lu closed out the tournament with a bogey-free round of 3-under 69. She used three birdies on the back nine to help propel up eight spots to a t-13th finish. 

"My goals today were to stay patient throughout the round and I was able to accomplish that," Lu said. "Our team's strategy was to take conservative lines off the tee because this course demands accurate tee shots, and that freed me up to swing with confidence. I chipped well around these greens and I'm happy with this start to the season."

Lorena Rossettin posted her second consecutive round under par to finish the event, shooting a 1-under 71 in the final round. She used three birdies of her own on the back nine and parred all nine holes on the front, earning a top-10 finish at t-10th. 

Truong was the third Scarlet Knight to finish in the top 15, shooting a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 15th. 

Judy Amano shot a 4-over 76 in the final round, picking up birdies on No. 9 and 18 and finishing hte event tied for 55th. 

Lucrezia Rossetting posted a 12-over 84 in the final round and finished in 76th. 

Rounds 1 & 2 – Monday, February 3rd

Truong put together two rounds under-par, highlighted by a 3-under 69 in her first round. She followed that up with a 1-under 71 in the second round, rolling in four birdies in each for a total of eight on the day. 

"My shots into greens were solid today and I putted well," Truong said. "My goal after starting well was to stay calm and patient, and I think I did a good job with that. I feel good on these greens and want to keep it going tomorrow."

Lorena Rossettin shot a 1-over 73 in her opening round, highlighted by three straight birdies on holes 1-3. She had the best round of the day by a Scarlet Knight in her second, shooting a 4-under 68, picking up five birdies to just one bogey to vault up to a tie for 11th.

"I had a lot of trust in my putter today and rolled in a lot of good putts," Rossettin said. "That allowed me to swing a little more free and I scrambled well when I needed to. We're growing more comfortable on this course and we're excited to come back for round three."

Grace Lu put together a pair of consistent rounds, shooting an even-par 72 in both rounds to put her in a tie for 21st. Lu posted three birdies in her first round and then carded 16 pars to pace the second. 

After a 2-over 74 in her first round, Judy Amano rolled in four birdies in her second round for a 1-over 73, finishing the day with a 3-over 147 and in a tie for 49th. 

Lucrezia Rossettin wrapped up the RU competitors in a 76th after shooting a 14-over 158 (80-78).
