How it Happened

  • Indiana got on the board first with a pair of three-pointers. Kiyomi McMiller recorded one free throw to make the score 6-1 early in the contest.
  • With just under seven minutes remaining, Adams got the team its first field goal of the night with a layup.
  • The Hoosier went on a 6-0 run, to go up 12-3 and force Rutgers to take its first timeout with 4:40 remaining.
  • Out of the break, McMiller broke up Indiana's offense with a floater and another free throw.
  • IU recorded a layup, but Adams matched it to keep the contest within six points, 14-8. Neither team scored in the final 2:47 and Indiana went into the second period up by six.
  • The Hoosiers got the first points of the second quarter with free throws at the 8:23 mark. Adams followed up with an offensive rebound and a layup of her own to keep the gap at six points.
  • Following the 6:42 media timeout, Awa Sidibe made two shots from the charity stripe to lessen the home team's lead to four, 18-12.
  • However, at the period's halfway point, Indiana netted another seven consecutive points to stay in control.
  • Sidibe and McMiller came back and combined for five points in a row, to once again make it a six-point game, 23-17.
  • Both teams traded buckets for the remainder of the opening half, but IU ended play with two free throws and went into the locker room holding onto the 32-21 lead.
  • Adams once again started off scoring for RU with a layup just 30 seconds into the third quarter. The Hoosiers answered with an 8-0 stretch to stay ahead 40-23. The Scarlet Knights used their second timeout with 6:55 to go.
  • Each team scored twice before the 5:29 media timeout, but IU remained in front, 45-27.
  • Out of the stop, Adams got to the rim and Sidibe added a long two, but Indiana made five shots in a row from beyond the arc to keep the 60-33 edge.
  • Rutgers continued to chip away though, as Chyna Cornwell got on the board with a contested layup. Zachara Perkins also contributed with a deep ball.
  • The Hoosiers stayed productive on offense through the end of the third, hitting two more threes and a field goal to extend their advantage, 68-40.
  • The Scarlet Knights began the final 10 minutes with four consecutive points, thanks to Zachara Perkins and JoJo Lacey. Adams added a layup as well, but IU matched all three scores.
  • The teams went back and forth on the floor before Indiana scored five in a row just before the 4:46 media to keep control of the lead, 79-47.
  • Out of the stop, Adams added four consecutive points of her own to give the offense a spark. Lacey followed up with a jumper at the free throw line in addition to another layup from Adams to cap off an 8-0 run for RU.
