PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (7-3) delivered a 19-7 out-of-conference win over Temple (2-7) on Thursday night at SHI Stadium. With a downpour for the entirety of the second half, the Scarlet Knights outscored the Owls, 9-2, in the final 30 minute of play and forced the visitors into 15 turnovers to secure the home win in Piscataway.
 
Junior Lily Dixon posted a career-high seven points on four assists and three goals, while rookie Hilary Elsner scored a career-high four goals. Senior Alexa Corbin, sophomore Payton Tini and freshman Delainey Sutley all muscled two goals a piece to help pace RU's potent scoring attack.
 
Dixon also shine on the defensive side of the ball with five ground balls and two caused turnovers to go along with five draw controls. Classmate Katie Buck added a team-high six draw controls, while graduate student goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron tallied her seventh win of the season with six saves on 22 shots faced.
 
It was a back-and-forth game in the first 15 minutes, as Temple owned a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarters. Rutgers responded with a 7-2 scoring run in the second period, as Elsner, Corbin, senior Victoria Goldrick and junior Ava Chiarella all netted goals in a four-minute span. Corbin's spin-move finish at the 11:23 mark put the Scarlet Knights up 6-3.
 
The Owls netted two consecutive goals to make it a one score game before Rutgers ended the half with a 4-0 scoring run. Sutley took a pass from Corbin for her first of the night to cap the goal streak with under two to play before the midpoint, as RU took a 10-5 lead into halftime.
 
It was al Rutgers in the final 30 minutes of action, as Dixon and Elsner sparked a 5-0 scoring run out of the locker room. Both netted two goals apiece across the next nine minutes of action, with Elsner's career-high fourth of the night providing the Scarlet Knights with a 15-5 lead.
 
With a comfortable lead, RU dictated the pace for the rest of the night, adding three insurance goals in the fourth quarter for the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Rowell impressed during 15 minutes of action between the pipes, recording two saves while allowing just one score, while freshman Francesca Urtis added the first goal of her career.
