Tennis Falls To Maryland On Senior Day

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Rutgers women's tennis team (7-12, 1-10 B1G) was defeated by the No. 49 Maryland Terrapins (14-9, 7-4 B1G), 4-2 Saturday afternoon.
"Maryland is a tough team," said head coach Hilary Ritchie. "Our team fought until the end. I'm so proud of our seniors and how much they have given over their careers."
Doubles
The Terrapins picked up the advantage in doubles play winning first on court No. 2, but Mai Nguyen & Naomi Karki quickly answered with a 6-2 win to tie it.
All eyes then focused on Jackie Lopez and Minchae Kim, the two seniors honored on Senior Day. The duo came from behind and won 7-5 to clinch the point for RU.
Singles
Zeynep Ilker extended the Rutgers lead, winning 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 6. UMD then won four straight hard-fought singles matches to take the dual.
