PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's golf won the team title for the second straight season at the Rutgers Invitational, beating the field by 30 strokes on Sunday afternoon at the Rutgers University Golf Course.
Emily James won the individual title at 6-over to earn the first title of her career. She picked up the victory in wire-to-wire fashion after leading following the first day of play.
"It was a full team effort to defend our title at home this weekend," head coach
Kari Williams said. "Conditions were tough across all three rounds with the cold, wind and rain, but our group dug in and battled hard for 54 holes. It's always fun to be able to compete on your home course in front of friends and family, and I am happy we were able to get the job done today. Emily has worked tirelessly on her game this spring and it was great to see it all come together for her first collegiate win. We did a lot of great things on the course this weekend and this experience will be good for us to build on as we get ready for the Big Ten Championship in two weeks."
