Wrestling Announces 2024-25 Team Awards

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling announced its team awards for the 2024-25 season. Joseph Olivieri, Dean Peterson and Dylan Shawver shared the Ted Petty Most Valuable Wrestler Award after all three advance to the 'Blood Round' at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia.
 
A 2025 NCAA qualifier and Big Ten Championships placewinner, Olivieri produced 21 victories and finished the regular season ranked No. 14 in the final coaches poll. Olivieri earned the No. 15 seed at the national tournament, where he picked up three wins en route to a Round of 12 appearance. An Academic All-Big Ten selection, Olivieri placed sixth at the 2025 Big Ten Championships and produced a runner-up finish at the Midlands Championships.
 
Also a 2025 NCAA qualifier and Big Ten Championships placewinner, Peterson wrapped up his final season at Rutgers with 22 wins and a No. 11 ranking in the final coaches poll. As the No. 12 seed at this year's national tournament, Peterson pinned defending national champion Richard Figueroa (Arizona State) in the championship quarterfinals en route to a Round of 12 appearance. Peterson finished sixth at the Big Ten Championships and produced an individual title at the Midlands Championships.
 
Now a two-time Ted Petty Award winner, Shawver wrapped up this season with 22 victories, a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and a Round of 12 appearance at the national tournament. Shawver, a 2024 All-American, finished the regular season ranked No. 10 in the final coaches poll and earned a No. 10 seed at the NCAA Championships, where he produced three wins. A three-time NCAA qualifier, Shawver has produced 88 career wins for the Scarlet Knights.
