No. 7 Rowing Qualifies Varsity 4 for NCAA Championships Grand Final

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – No. 7 Rutgers rowing will send its Varsity 4 boat to the grand final on Sunday at the NCAA Championships on Lake Mercer to compete for national places 1-6. The Rutgers Varsity 8 will be competing in the petite final on Sunday for places 7-12, and the 2nd Varsity 8 will race in the C final on Sunday for places 13-18 after winning their semifinal race on Saturday at the national regatta.
The V4 finished third in their A/B semifinal to grab a spot at the grand final on Sunday, staying in contact with No. 3 Washington (+2.3 seconds) and No. 5 Yale (+1.1 seconds) throughout the race.
The V8 competed against the top three ranked programs in the country, with No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Texas, and No. 3 Washington claiming the three trips to the grand final. RU finished fourth and will head to the petite final on Sunday.
The 2V8 overcame a quick start by Northeastern, passing them after the 500-meter mark on the 2,000-meter course and holding the lead the rest of the way to win the C/D semifinal by 3.1 seconds over Dartmouth and Northeastern.
