Women’s Lacrosse Letterwinner Kelly Helps Team Australia to Bronze Medal

CHENGDU, CHINA – Rutgers women's lacrosse letterwinner Steph Kelly helped the Australian Women's Sixes to a bronze medal the The World Games 2025 on August 11 in Chengdu, China.

Australia downed Japan in the bronze medal match that went to overtime. Down 12-9 with just under five minutes to play in the fourth quarter, Australia used a 3-0 scoring run, which included a goal from Kelly, to force overtime.

Kelly played in five games during the championships, finishing with nine points on seven goals and two assists.
 
Kelly has enjoyed a successful international career with Lacrosse Australia, earning the 2024 Shelley Maher Trophy – presented to the best women's player in Australia. Kelly netted 41 goals and 23 assists across 17 games last season. Kelly made her U23 debut in 2017 and has competed on the international level since then.
 
Kelly spent her graduate season at Rutgers in 2022, earning All-America and All-Big Ten laurels as a team captain that spring. Kelly started 21 games on attack, setting a single-season program record with 39 assists to go along with 26 goals. Kelly helped Rutgers to a 16-5 record in 2022, which included an appearance in the Big Ten Championship game and a second-round appearance at the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
