PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's golf sophomore Jeffrey Zatorski has been named Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Zatorski earns the honor following a breakout performance in Minnesota, where he captured the individual title at the Minnesota Golf Classic to secure the first collegiate victory of his career.

Zatorski (209) stole the spotlight early in the trip by firing rounds of 66-71-70 to finish nine-under-par and claim the top spot in the 54-hole event, which ran parallel to the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club. His steady play from start to finish established him at the top of the leaderboard and signaled a breakout moment in his young Scarlet Knight career.

"The emotions were running after making a double and then bouncing back with a solid par on the par five," said Zatorski. "When those emotions were running, I tried to keep my head down, focus on one shot at a time, and just see the shot and hit the shot—without worrying about the end result. I hit three really great shots coming down the stretch."

Head coach Rob Shutte praised Zatorski's poise and preparation. "Jeffrey has been outstanding to start the season, and to win his first collegiate tournament in such a competitive field is a tremendous accomplishment," Shutte said. "His focus and ability to respond to adversity really set the tone for the week and for our team moving forward."

The honor marks the first Big Ten Golfer of the Week recognition of Zatorski's career and the first weekly award for Rutgers this season.

Zatorski and the Scarlet Knights return to action September 15-16 at the Fighting Irish Classic, hosted by Notre Dame at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana.
