Dariel Djabome represents Rutgers football as a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy, the
National Football Foundation announced Wednesday. The award recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
A team captain for the Scarlet Knights, Djabome has played in 39 career games in totaling 139 tackles with 9.5 for loss and 4.5 sacks. He earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors in 2024 after ranking fifth in the league with 8.1 stops per game, also being named a finalist for the Cornish Trophy, which recognizes the top Canadian in college football.
He has started all four games at linebacker this season, recording eight tackles versus Iowa and a sack against Miami (Ohio).
Off the field, Djabome is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree as a human resource management major. He has been part of Chop4Change, an initiative that involves giving back to the community through various forms.
To be eligible for the Campbell Trophy, a student-athlete must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
