Brian O’Sullivan Leads Stellar Effort with School Record at Scarlet Knights Open

NEW YORK – Rutgers track and field hosted its only home meet of the indoor season, the Scarlet Knights Open, at the Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory on Friday. Pole vaulter Brian O'Sullivan captured the school record, one of several performances on the top-10 all-time list.
"It's always great to get a chance to host a meet at the Armory," said Bobby Farrell, director of track & field and cross country. "This was another opportunity to fine tune as we get closer to the Big Ten Championships. We had a few great performances, records and wins. Next week will be a big week as we close out the regular season and get ready for the championships."
The Scarlet Knights tallied 11 total wins across both the men's and women's events, as well as 29 finishes in the top three.
O'Sullivan edged his brother Kevin's previous school record height by three inches to win the event and sit atop the Rutgers record book. Brian O'Sullivan set a new mark, clearing 5.63m (18' 5.5"), while Kevin placed second with a height of 5.33m (17' 5.75").
There were three field event wins on the men's side with Malahci Yehudah adding a victory in the high jump with a height of 2.03m (6' 8"), while Andrew Krall won the weight throw with a distance of 20.03m (65' 8.75"). Krall's mark was good for No. 2 on the school's all-time list.
Sincere Robinson finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.58m (24' 10.5"), followed by Donavan Anderson who placed third with a distance of 7.49m (24' 7"). Shawn Brady took third in the shot put with a mark of 15.84m (51' 11.75") and Joseph Oduro placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 15.55m (51' 0.25").
On the track for the men's side, Micah Lawson ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:05.99 to finish second in the event and No. 5 on the all-time list. Lathan Brown also posted the fifth-best time in program history in the 600-meter as he finished second in 1:18.73, followed by Gabriel Rodriguez who was third in 1:19.23. Greg McQueen finished second in the 60-meter with a time of 6.88 and Andrew Boakye went second in the 200-meter, running 21.90.
The women's squad secured eight event wins. On the track, Naylah Jones ran 7.56 in the 60-meter to finish first, followed by Abby Love in 7.57. Llyric Driscoll won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.50, while Paige Floriea placed first in the 200-meter with a time of 24.64.
Charlee Crawford led a 1-2-3 finish for the Scarlet Knights in the 400-meter with a winning time of 53.39, followed by Success Duruzor in second in 55.04 and Sierra Latonnel in third 55.87. Alana Henry finished second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:12.60.
Paige Floriea won the long jump with a distance of 6.18m (20' 3.5"), while Jenovia Logan won the high jump after clearing a height of 1.75m (5' 8.75"). Alanna Woolfolk posted a height of 1.65m (5' 5") to finish second. Ayotunde Folawewo added a win in the triple jump with a distance of 12.34m (40' 6"), followed by Driscoll who took third with a mark of 11.86m (38' 11").
Tey'ana Ames won the shot put and posted the second best throw in program history with a distance of 16.08m (52' 9.25"). Ciara Demarest finished third in the event with a throw of 13.66m (44' 9.75").
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Friday, February 13 for the Valentine Invitational on the Boston University campus.
