Shawver Earns At-Large Bid to 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Dylan Shawver (133) earned an at-large selection to the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, held March 19-21 in Cleveland. No. 11 Rutgers wrestling now has nine of its 10 starters heading to the national tournament, the second-most participants for the Scarlet Knights at NCAAs in program history.
RU is one of eight programs in the country with nine or more participants heading to Cleveland, joining No. 1 Penn State (10), No. 2 Ohio State (10), No. 3 Oklahoma State (10), No. 4 Iowa State (9), No. 5 Nebraska (10), No. 6 Virginia Tech (10), No. 7 Iowa (9).
Rutgers' nine bids to nationals are the most since they brought their entire lineup to Madison Square Garden in 2016. Its marks just the fourth the Scarlet Knights will have eight or more at the national championships, with all four cohorts coming under head coach Scott Goodale.
A 2024 Big Ten Champion and NCAA All-American, Shawver posted a 20-11 record this season and wrestled to a ninth-place finish at this year's Big Ten Championships in State College, Pennsylvania. Shawver owns nine career wins at the national tournament and became the 18th wrestler in program history to hit 100 career wins 'On the Banks."
Shawver becomes just the eighth four-time NCAA qualifier in program history, joining Anthony Ashnault, Nick Gravina, Dan Rinaldi, Andy Roy, Billy Smith, Jackson Turley and Scott Winson.
