LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rutgers wrestling signee Anthony Knox continued his successful freestyle circuit, finishing second at the 2026 Senior Wolrd Team Trials Challenge on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky. Knox wrestled to the title match at 57kg before losing to three-time NCAA champion and Olympic silver medalist Spencer Lee in the finals.
As the No. 2 seed, Knox defeated 2026 Pan American champion and NCAA All-American Liam Cronin, 11-0, in the semifinals of the championship bracket on Thursday. Knox previously earned a bronze medal at the 2026 U.S. Open last month at the Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas.
The finish continued a run success for Knox on the international level, being named Most Outstanding Wrestler en route to a U20 Men's Freestyle National Championship at last year's U.S. Open in Las Vegas. Knox followed with a U20 World Team Trials title at 57kg in Geneva, Ohio, securing a spot at the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria for Team USA.
